Why satellite tv? DIRECTV , for example, has consistently ranked high in this category having received the coveted #1 ranking for Customer Satisfaction among satellite/cable subscribers by J.D.
HI Amit,
Very good article. I liked it.
I am planing to go for Triple play of Airtel. I have one worry. Will it eat up my 256kbps BB speed?
although airtel saying no it wont, I am kind of not convinced with their answers. I yet to know wht architechture they are in (ADSL/ ADSL+ etc) so that why i am not confident.
can you shower some light on it. it would be a great help.
you can mail me too.

thanks in adv.

Hi Sharad,

please note that this article talks about Digital TV. In digital TV world. only one TV per STB is allowed which virtually translates to one connection per TV. to connect more than one TV, you need permission from service provider irrespective of it being Cable , DTH or IP.

What you are referring to is analog cable TV which exists in India currently. Being analog, the signal is redistributed. but if you go to CAs enabled areas, this is not feasible anymore. The world is going digital and soon this signal sharing will stop.

Sharing this signal leads to lot of noise and unclear video signal. The current system is old and does not provide a better TV viewing experience.

I think there is one major advantage in cable tv i.e., with one cable tv connection we can have it connected to more than one tv ( all having different channels).

I don’t think this might be possible on DTH and IPTV. What do you say?
plz tell me soon.

@tejus,
i think u r talking about analogue cable which is already in phase out mode. This talk was about digital tv where one box can enable only one tv.
